Information System are essential to business because Information systems are the foundation for conducting business today. In manyindustries, survival and even existence without extensive use of IT isinconceivable, and IT plays a critical role in increasing productivity. Althoughinformation technology has become more of a commodity, when coupled withcomplementary changes in organization and management, it can provide thefoundation for new products, services, and ways of conducting business thatprovide firms with a strategic advantage.

-an ordered and comprehensive assemblage of facts, principles, doctrines, or the like in a particular field of knowledge or thought.
-a coordinated body of methods or a scheme or plan of procedure; organizational scheme: a system of government.
